Perennial. This majestic poppy deserves center stage in your garden border. Use as a focal point or massed into blazing swaths of color as a treat for you and for the honeybees. The 4" flowers are an intense red color which pairs well with yellow, gold, purple, or blue late spring blooming flowers. Makes a stunning cut flower! Perennial in USDA zones 2-6. Deer resistant.

When to sow outside: RECOMMENDED. 4 to 6 weeks before average last frost or as soon as soil can be worked; or early to mid-fall for bloom the following spring. In mild climates, only fall sowing is recommended.

When to start inside: Not recommended. 6 to 8 weeks before average last frost. Does not transplant well. Sow in individual pulp pots that can be planted directly in the ground.

Special germination instructions: Seeds require light to germinate. Rake lightly into surface of soil; keep moist.
